Osteopathy is a form of manual (or hands on) medicine and has been around since the 1870s. Osteopaths look at the body as a whole unit, not just an injured part. Osteopaths have a minimum of 5 years full-time osteopathic education at University studying Anatomy (lots of Anatomy!) as well as medical sciences such as Pathology, Radiology, Neurology, Pharmacology, Biomechanics and Exercise Rehabilitation. When you visit, I take an extensive history to work out the likely source of your issue. This covers your medical history, any previous accidents or injuries you may have had, your occupation, sports and hobbies, your posture and lifestyle, as well as your diet, medications and your general wellbeing.
Osteopaths take a caring and individual approach to treating patients. No matter what the issue, each person is treated as an individual and treatment and advice is tailored to suit their needs. This may involve any of the following:
- Muscle and connective tissue stretching
- Rhythmic joint movements
- Muscle Energy Technique
- Dry needling (this is NOT acupuncture but the needle used are the same)
- Joint manipulation
- Rehab exercise programs
- Myofascial release or gentle ligamentous techniques
- Biomechanical and Functional assessment
- X Rays or MRI
If Osteopathic treatment is not appropriate for you, I can refer you to a more appropriate practitioner or your GP who will be able to help you further. Osteopathy can assist with respiratory conditions such as asthma, gastrointestinal complaints, abdominal and pelvic discomfort, jaw pain and headache.
Osteopathy is a 5 year University qualification and all Osteopaths are registered with APHRA and the Osteopathy Board of Australia. We are able to assess and diagnose a wide range of conditions, refer for imaging, recommend a range of supplements and prescribe exercise programs.
We also love giving helpful and informative advice about improving your health and lifestyle choices. I have a wide network of health professionals (doctors, naturopaths, accredited exercise physiologists, psychologists) I can draw on to maximize your health benefits should a referral be necessary.
Feel free to book an appointment to discuss your needs or email me with any questions you may have. We process HICAPS claims on site and well as Medicare EPC plans. Dry needling works with the nervous system to reduce this pain at the site and dampen down the processing of pain in the brain.
Dry needling is NOT acupuncture, but does use acupuncture needles to great effect. Dry needling is useful in jaw pain and headache, shoulder and arm pain, back pain, leg soreness and buttock pain. Despite it’s name, Dry Needling is virtually painless and great relief can be gained from using it. If you haven’t tried it, why not give it a go! Feel free to book an appointment to discuss your needs or email me with any questions you may have.
Exercise as Medicine – Rehabilitation
Whether you have a recent injury, a joint that has ‘never been quite right’ after a previous injury or you’re just not moving as well as you would like, gaining better function is a priority.
I can assess your existing level of function for everyday activities that might be challenging and work out treatment and exercise to restore comfort and mobility.
For sporting activities, assessment and treatment and a tailored exercise program can get you back to doing what you love!

Func-ky Pilates (Functional Training and Pilates)
Individual sessions designed especially for you. Whether you just want to maintain your mobility and strength, improve how you move or recover from a new or old injury, Func-ky Pilates can help.
An initial consultation is required to assess your needs and devise a program prior to commencing these sessions. This will include a functional assessment of your current abilities (how you move now), what you want to achieve (how you want to move or a if you have a specific goal in mind), a thorough medical history (including blood pressure check and any other examination required) and any imaging that may be needed to ensure you are safe to exercise. Your program will be based on the findings of this examination. Once this is done, you can book your ongoing sessions online at a time that suits you.
Your program will include functional exercises (to improve joint mobility and control), weights and bands (to build strength), bodyweight exercises including traditional Pilates exercises (for strength and control) and sliders (for better joint control).

Nutrition and lifestyle play a huge role in how our bodies function every day and how we recover from injury. Gut health is also extremely important to overall health, mood and brain function.
Stress and hormonal balance are major contributors to how we sleep and our tissue health.
I can provide advice about diet and gut health, mood and hormonal balance, stress management strategies and supplements to improve general health concerns and recovery from injury.
For complex issues, you may be referred to an Integrative Medicine GP, a naturopath or dietician for management.
